As we walk with the Lord, we learn that worship is more than playing music or singing a chorus over and over, although these can be wonderful ways to express our love to Him… It ultimately comes down to understanding who God is, praising Him for being who He is, and giving Him the glory due His name. It is our desire that Calvary Chapel Oxford provide a place for people to worship and hear from God through His Word.

As Jesus said to the Samaritan woman in John 4: 23-24, "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

God desires our worship and is blessed by the worship of His people. We were created to worship Him, thus, worship goes beyond merely the time of singing before the message on a Sunday morning.

It is a life committed to serving the Lord and bringing glory to His name, but the time we have corporately when we gather together is precious and helps our hearts to be prepared to hear what God desires to speak to us through His Word.

As worship leader, it is my desire that people are encouraged to worship the Lord in a biblically centred time of worship and have hearts to continue worshipping throughout the week and seeking the Lord in His Word. That we would hearken the words of Paul when he states in his letter to the Romans:

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." (Rom 12: 1-2)
